7 Most Extreme Jobs in the World
For some people, the regular grind of a 9 to 5 job just won’t cut it and they need more adventure in their lives, something with a little...spice. Here are the most extreme, dangerous or just plain unusual jobs you won’t find in the classifieds anytime soon. In no particular order, they are:

1. High Rise Window Cleaner

Of course, you’re held in place with ropes and temporary scaffolding-like contraptions, but that’s never a sure thing. And there’s always this saying: the higher you go, the harder you fall. Despite that, getting paid to work hundreds of feet in the air and have a bird’s-eye view of the world is pretty cool.

2. Cave Diver

Again, getting paid to go scuba diving is pretty neat, for you get to explore the underwater world and gain access to another dimension simply by strapping on goggles and a scuba tank. But there are huge risks involved: getting the bends is always a possibility, but you’re likelier to kick up sediment and cause a very disorienting blackout.

3. Venom Milker

Somebody has to milk venomous snakes so science can understand the reptiles better, but there’s a lot more to it than just catching one snake and milking it. Many snakes have to be milked to collect enough venom, enduring dozens of bites while they get the snake’s fangs close enough to a plastic lid for them to bite.

4. Loggers

Working in the outdoors and cutting down trees all day sounds fun, but dozens of low-paid lumberjacks are killed every year. Cutting down the tree itself may be the easiest part, it’s the steep inclines and wayward-falling dead branches (“widow makers”) that make logging one of the riskiest careers.

5. Fishers

Working in the fishery industry may seem innocuous enough, but water tends to have a mind of its own; when it gets into one of its moods, you’re completely at its mercy. Drownings aren’t uncommon at all, especially in the cold Alaskan waters during the winter months.

6. Storm Chasers

While the actual profession is a lot more technical and scientific than the movie Twister would have you believe, the dangers are also underplayed, too. Storm chasers have to get ridiculously close to tornadoes, which can change directions on a dime. And while high winds are one of the biggest threats, lightning strikes can be just as dangerous.

7. Power Line Installers

Anytime you get around thousands of volts of electricity, the propensity for something going wrong lurks in the background. But when you multiply that risk by going high up in the air with a helicopter, only a specialized few in the world are skilled enough to perform the job well.

Not every job involves the same office humdrum, with these seven being some of the most extreme and dangerous jobs. If we’ve missed one, let us know in the comments!
