Parents Getting Involved in Self Employment For Their Kids

Eighteen months ago, one mother of two decided to quit a government job and opened up her own family oriented cafe. Like many of the business owners in the area, she decided to leave her steady career because she wanted to find more time for her family by becoming self employed instead. She felt as though her previous job didn’t provide her with enough balance for her life, noting that most of her time was spent on the phone and on the job, even when she should have been spending time with her children and her family.

Her business, the Java Mama Cafe, is now designed to provide a unique place where caregivers and parents can meet while their children are spending time in play areas. Although she has the added responsibility of running the business, she has time to take her children to school, various activities, and spend time with them after work. This is something that she couldn’t do when she was working her traditional government job. Sometimes her children can even come to work with her because of the way that her business is set up.

There are many people who work hard to try to find a balance between having a family life and a professional life. It can be difficult because the hours that are associated with working at a traditional job don’t always match up with enabling someone to spend time with their family. Likewise, a lot of people are seeking to become their own boss. They want to have their own schedule that they can arrange as needed. Often time, they want to have more creative independence than they are being granted by their boss or other employees at work.

For other people, it’s a matter of being able to get that time away from work so that they can spend time with their family when it’s needed the most. Parents with children which are extremely sick or may have difficult conditions tend to be interested in becoming self employed because it means that they will be able to take off of work whenever they need to in order to take care of their children. This is something that they would not be able to do so easily in a traditional job, if at all.

Of course, there is a risk that is associated with any sort of self employed business. There is no guarantee that it will work out or that it will provide the results that the individual may expect. Some parents have to try multiple options until they are able to find something that will work out well for them. However, when they have discovered that ideal option, most parents say that it is the most rewarding experience they have found and that they will never regret it. The ability to be able to spend time with your children and take care of them when they need it the most is well worth the risk of becoming your own boss.
